    Managing reflections from wall surfaces in larger rooms requires products that have large amounts of surface area to absorb those reflections. Another design requirement is that air must move across both sides of the technology.

    Suspended ceiling tiles are typically compressed powders and fabrics. There thickness is at 1/2″ so between the tile composition and the small thickness, absorbent coefficients below 500 Hz. are hard to come by.

    Frequencies below 500 Hz. are where our vocals lie in frequency response. In fact, male human vocals can start as low as 100 Hz. This is the reason why a standard ceiling tile provides little assistance when you get a room full of people.

    Finish is a three coat process of clear coat to protect the commercial grade exterior material. Carbon technology inside the unit and our 2″ foam technology featured upon the face of each unit.

    Speaker cabinets are really miniature rooms. As your diaphragm (speaker) moves inside the cabinet, reflections and unwanted low frequency pressure issues inside the cabinet color the sonic energy that is then released through your speaker drivers and into your listening room. These sonic coloration’s take many forms.

    First, there comes the vibration or structural issues of the cabinet’s themselves. Everything that moves makes noise, Your drivers move back and forth and are attached to the cabinet. The cabinet takes this energy and then transfers it to the floor, so the floor can start moving. You now understand vibration (noise) transmission pathways.

    Low frequency, unwanted, room modal issues are presented within our speaker cabinet are in direct proportion to the speaker cabinet size and volume. Reflections from the speaker cabinet (room) are bouncing around inside the cabinet cavity. Where does all this over pressurized and time delayed reflected energy go?     Sub woofers generate a lot of low frequency energy that fills our rooms. Most of that energy will simply not fit into our small rooms. A 12″ driver produces 2 dB more energy than a 10″. All of this energy must be managed and the best location to manage unwanted low frequency pressure is as close to the source as possible.

    Our sub woofer carbon platform SWCP provides broadband absorption from 30 – 200 Hz. Broadband absorption that averages a 25 – 30% rate of absorption at the levels from 30 – 200 Hz. where sub woofers produce their energy.     Pianos radiate energy in many directions. They radiate from the piano bed to the floor, from the bed to the ceiling and out the wood sides of the piano. If the lid is left on, then you have another series of reflections from the lid to the bed and then out towards the front. How do you manage all of those radiating sources of energy. It is difficult. That is why you do not hear many quality piano recordings.

    Low frequency absorption is achieved through the use of our carbon technology. All energy below 100 Hz. is treated with absorption through our carbon diaphragmatic process. Since the piano bed (speaker) is placed close to a boundary(floor), low frequency energy is magnified and proper rates and levels of absorption must be applied just as with placing a hi-fi speaker close to a wall.

    Middle and high frequency unwanted reflections from the floor to the piano bed are also reduced to minimize comb filtering. Comb filtering occurs because of the back and forth travels of sound energy from the bed to the floor and then back from floor to the piano bed producing a series of unwanted reflections. Our 2″ foam technology is installed on the top of the unit facing the piano bed to minimize the strength of this unwanted energy.

    To deal with two main issues comb filter and SBIE, we have created our Piano Carbon Platform. It is a smaller version of our ACDA-10 unit with a higher resonant frequency and unit height of only 6″. Two units fit most pianos and are rolled under the piano bed.
