    Managing reflections from wall surfaces in larger rooms requires products that have large amounts of surface area to absorb those reflections. Another design requirement is that air must move across both sides of the technology.

    Air movement across both sides, reduces the amount of units and surface area required within rooms to reduce the energy level of the reflection.     Foam in our ceilings will work for frequencies above 100 Hz. It is a lightweight, economical solution to sound absorption needs on our ceilings. However, foam does not produce the rates of absorption that some rooms require. Some rooms have higher pressure issues and need more absorption horsepower. This is the impetus behind our Ceiling Perforated Panel – CPP.

    Our CPP is an actual perforated absorber that can be installed on your ceiling for higher rates and levels of absorption. With a starting frequency of 90 Hz. and going up through 6,500 Hz., it is a more powerful unit then just our foam and ceiling tile. It will go lower and have more mass to deal with rooms that have too much energy for regular foam applications.

    Suspended ceiling tiles are typically compressed powders and fabrics. There thickness is at 1/2″ so between the tile composition and the small thickness, absorbent coefficients below 500 Hz. are hard to come by.

    Frequencies below 500 Hz. are where our vocals lie in frequency response. In fact, male human vocals can start as low as 100 Hz. This is the reason why a standard ceiling tile provides little assistance when you get a room full of people.

    To keep the look strength, rigidity, and cost of the Armstrong ceiling tile for suspended ceilings, we have taken the standard and decades tested 1/2″ acoustic ceiling tile and added our proprietary 2″ foam technology. We center a 18″ x 2″ x 18″ piece of our 2″ thick foam on the 24″ x 1/2″ x 24″ Armstrong white ceiling tile. Foam is grey and Armstrong tile provides the white 3″ recessed border. Ceiling tiles come in 24″ x 24″ or 24″ x 48″
