I create YouTube videos in a 13×9 feet room. I plan to have about 6 strategically placed 2 feet x 4 feet x 4 inch thick bass traps all around the room. My question is, should I carpet the room? I realize that carpet treats just the higher frequencies, and I’m wondering if it would be better to leave the floor bare concrete or install a thick carpet and wool pad. I will be using a high-end shotgun mic such as the Sennheiser MKH 416 or MKH 50. Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

A 4″ deep panel can not be a “bass trap”. It will not provide the rate of absorption required for your room volume and usage. The floor area is responsible for ceiling to floor reflections Any treatment type must be a balance between absorption rates and levels and the usage requirements.
