Lower Pressure Levels
Lowering the energy and pressure levels generated inside a room is what low frequency absorption in small room acoustics is all about. Keeping low frequency energy from a motorcycle and train from getting into the room is the task for barrier technology. We build a barrier between the outside noise levels and ourselves. We do this through various construction and material techniques arranged into a certain order to achieve the correct amount of sound transmission loss.
Foam Blocks Provide For 8″ Thick Concrete Walls
Sound Loss Costs Money Per Db.
We have experience in barrier technologies and their application. Consult us before you build your room. We can assist you with starting points and which of your sonic expectations can be realized and which ones can not based on the level of work involved and the associated costs. Reducing sound energy levels has an incremental cost structure to it and most of the time, individuals spend to much to obtain too little. knowing what your goals are and then refining them to match the costs involved is best done with a pen and paper, rather than a hammer and saw.
Poured 8″ Thick Concrete Wall – STC 56
Living Roof Home Theater
Pictured below is a sound room of our design currently under construction in Arizona. The room is 25′ x 16′ x 50′ with a living roof which is composed of 18″ of earth. The walls are all 8″ poured concrete. All doorways are steel framed and supported.

Sound isolation technology requires construction methodologies that center around vibration reducing techniques. Different materials must be married together in the proper manner to ensure that vibrations are minimized as they pass through the materials. Special care and attention must be used to make sure all surfaces are mechanically decoupled from each other, room size calculations are completed to ensure proper room resonance control on the inside, and barrier technology must be employed to yield the highest sound transmission loss at the lowest price point.
