When printing a mix, it can be very helpful to have another outside noise while at the same time listening to the music. This is because in our everyday lives we often have other noises going on around us while we are trying to enjoy music. This happened on accident by the author of the story, but it turned out to be an experience that he learned from and did it again and again.
