StudioPro Foam Technology

Music and voice are different than other sounds. We all know that. The problem is that most companies use building insulation that was designed to keep your room warm and cool to absorb excess music and voice energy or to minimize the reflections off of room wall surfaces. They use it because it is cheap. It is also highly toxic and lacks everything that music and voice needs. If you have ever been in a “Roxul room”, you will know what we mean. The life and musicality is drained from voice and music. You must use special absorption curves for music and voice that have a smooth and linear response. Forget about keeping your room warm or cool. Let’s focus on the music and voice and use technologies that were designed for music and voice. Don’t we owe that to our music and voice.

There is no foam technology that has a smoother absorbing curve and which works so well with both your voice and music. By absorbing more energy in the 125 Hz. – 250 Hz. range than traditional foams do, you will enjoy more definition, separation, and clarity to your mid range vocals and instruments.

With this increased rate of absorption, a smoother absorption curve is created. It is that smoothness that is your key to better mid ranges in your recording and listening rooms.

Activated Carbon Or Charcoal

We use activated carbon or charcoal. Charcoal has a much higher rate and level of absorption than anything currently in the market place and can turn a standard diaphragmatic absorber into an low frequency absorber on steroids. A gram of carbon has over 2,000 sq meters of surface area and we place over 65 lbs. of activated carbon inside each one of our ACDA-10 and ACDA-12 activated carbon absorbers. With this as our cabinet fill material, we achieve an overall cabinet “Q” value that is tremendously improved.

Our absorbers weigh in at 200 lbs. each and absorb at rates never before achieved in a commercially available product. We are very serious about absorption. To encourage the front two walls to be the only two walls that are moving, we make our cabinets as rigid and inert as possible. Our cabinets have seven layers of different materials with different densities all layered together with viseo elastic damping compounds between each layer. Our cabinets are stronger and better built with our ACDA series than most speaker cabinets.

Activated Carbon Bass Absorbers

Our low frequency activated carbon bass absorbers can be built into your walls or placed in your room as free standing units. They are the most powerful bass absorbers available on the commercial market. Our ACDA 12 unit achieves 100% absorption at 50 Hz., 63% at 40 Hz. and continue doing a great job down into the 30 Hz. range. Whereas our ACDA 10unit provides broadband absorption from 30 Hz. to 400 Hz. at 25% average. And all of this is achieved in just a 10″ depth space.

Our low frequency absorption rates have been independently tested and verified by the World famous Riverbank Acoustical Laboratories (now Alion Labs). The graphs you can see show the absorption levels verified in the reports.
