It’s not uncommon to hear people say that music now is less interesting, complicated, and otherwise good than music from earlier generations. Now, though, there seems to be scientific proof of the fact. The Spanish National Research Council reports that yes, music is all starting to sound more similar than before, and also much louder. These results came from a study of more than a million songs over the past 50 years.
