Just Listen If You Want To Be A Better Songwriter

Gary Ewer blogs about a method for improving songwriting through focused listening. Great songwriters are often (and not coincidentally) great borrowers of material, Ewer claims. Before writing an original song, it helps to choose an existing favorite and listen for the following qualities: melody, chord changes, instrumentation, lyrical style, vocal style, and subject matter.
