Hey all!
My name is Adrian. I am in the early stages of building a new house. With COVID my home office is my full-time office now. I have 2 daughters 5 and 3. During the day when they’re playing in the living room, I want to be able to handle calls and meetings free of noise distractions. Also when I need to focus on projects I’d like to be able to work in a quiet room without much noise distraction from anything else going on in the house.

In addition to the office… I would like to pay special attention to the upstairs children’s bedrooms as well. I want to be able to cook, clean dishes, watch a movie, or entertain downstairs in the living room and not worry about waking the girls sleeping upstairs.

There is so much conflicting information online regarding materials, brands, systems, strategies. I found this forum and realize it may be overkill here since this seems to be very specialized knowledge… but I would love to hear all opinions on the best way to attack this project. Since we haven’t started building anything yet I figure now is the time to start planning. ideally, I would like the house to appear to be a normal home without any odd or unusual aesthetics.

Thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions and learning from all of you!
Thank you

You will first need to measure the frequency and amplitude of the noise issues and then design the appropriate barrier technology: Measure / Design / Build
