John Swenson compares digital to looking at electrical voltage. There can be many different voltage levels on a wire. This is analog. What digital does is quantifies those values and establishes thresholds. Digital then uses those thresholds to block out low-quality noise. Digital is not without its downsides, such as limiting a wire to only two values. John Swenson has been working with audio technology since he was five years old.
