Diy plans - bass absorber foam options

Bought the diy plans moons ago, diffusers are fine to build, but i have no access to the fancy carbon.
Is opencell foam decent to use in 2″ sheets, and how about making them a bit smaller to fit a od width and length of 120/60cm, instead of 140/63.5, depth is gonna be the same.?
Any subs for carbon that are decent?
