Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with the sonic crystals method for sound reduction?

I know of different art objects and some pilot projects for urban noise reduction, but will it work for live music outside or indoor?

I hope this topic is interesting for some, and this forum will allow it.

Best regards,

Theodor S

After I saw this post I started reading about it, because I had never heard of sonic crystals before. It looks like this technology is a long way off from any possible music studio applications. Most of the research seems to be focused on applications in the ranges outside of human hearing, in any case. Studio designers are probably decades away from getting a chance to build with it, unfortunately. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…..c_crystals

Thanks for your comments.

If this is interesting to you I would take a look at the final page of the report by Fredianelli et al. called “Recent Developments in Sonic Crystals as Barriers for Road Traffic Noise Mitigation” for the most recent comparative analysis of the different studies which have tested the tech.
