Hi everyone, I built a vocal booth for vocal recording, vocal warm ups/exercises, and voice acting. It was made out of MDF panels, bondex foams and pyramid foams. But I have a serious allergy problem against dust, lint, and fur. It was impossible for me to clean the pyramid foam . So I sold the booth for a quite low resale value. I’m looking for something that I can wipe it clean with damp cloth, also it has to block my voice going outside of the cabin (bondex handled that), and cut the reflection to the microphone (pyramid foam handled that). Someone in this business suggested that we use MDF for the cabin and inside, Fabric-wrapped Acoustic Panels.
What are your thoughts and what are your suggestions?
Look for the video where Dennis talks to a voice actor about a booth they built in her apartment. Lots of good info in that one about MDF on 2×6 walls, and making those walls even more dense with extra layers between the studs. Of course – use the proprietary foam inside to tune the sound within the booth.
